A Scenic Detour Before Lunch

Before heading to lunch, we made a quick stop at Cape Tabibito (Traveler’s Cape)—a local spot known for its sweeping views of Suruga Bay. The salty ocean breeze, paired with a panoramic view, felt like a breath of fresh dopamine. There’s even a heart-shaped stone hidden among the pavement, perfect for a romantic little treasure hunt. Talk about a pre-lunch mood booster!

Welcome to LOQUT – A Masterpiece of Taste and Design

Nestled in the heart of Nishi-Izu, LOQUT (pronounced “Loquat”) greets visitors with the charm of a restored 300-year-old estate. Just the sight of its long stone walls and traditional gate is enough to stir the senses.

The spacious garden, historic kura (storehouse) converted into a secret bar, and the loquat trees that inspired the restaurant’s name all add to the enchantment.
And no surprise here—LOQUT is the second restaurant by Takeru Quindici, a beloved casual Italian eatery from Kamakura. Everything from the architecture to the plating reflects thoughtful design and refined taste.
Also on-site is a beautifully renovated auberge, complete with a bakery and gelato stand.
Stylish, Spacious, and Soothing

The airy interior, with its high ceilings and wide glass windows, offers a truly open atmosphere—so relaxing you might forget to worry about how they keep the place so impeccably clean!
Local Craft Beers

We sampled a few local brews with lunch:
- Aoi Umi (Blue Ocean) – light and easy to drink
- Kaze no Tani Beer (Valley of the Wind) – smooth and classic
- Baird Beer – bold and flavorful for those who like character
We personally loved Aoi Umi—the perfect match for a summer lunch.

SANTi: The Famous Kamakura Gelato Comes to Izu

Attached to the main building is GELATO & BAKE SANTi, the second location of Kamakura’s popular gelato shop.
We picked up some croissants and pain au chocolat for the road, and… wow. Buttery, flaky, and irresistible.
All ingredients are top-tier: Japanese wheat, natural yeast, and Ida Salt—locally harvested from Toi. A Michelin-worthy bakery experience right by the sea.
A Hidden Bar? Yes, Please!

Lucky us—one of the staff gave us a private tour of the property, including Ichinokura, the hidden bar tucked behind the garden. Renovated from a traditional storehouse, it’s the perfect hideaway for a post-meal drink. Totally Instagram-worthy.

LOQUT brings a refreshing blend of heritage and modern luxury to Toi. With coastal views, gourmet food, local drinks, and thoughtful design, it’s more than just a meal—it’s a retreat for your senses.
This “golden egg” might just hatch a new chapter for Toi.
